Introduction

Are you ready to learn how to boost your intuition?

The world today can be overwhelming! Each year, society seems to revolve more and more around technology, screens, and stress. It is far too easy to get caught up comparing ourselves to the perfectly curated lives we see on social media, or feel overwhelmed by the never ending 24 hour news cycle. No wonder we can often find ourselves feeling caught in negative cycles of anxiety, fear, and stress.

Thankfully, we are all born with the ability to access a tool that can help us better manage all of today’s modern struggles. A tool that can help guide us through life and stay on the right path. It is our one true superpower, an ancient wisdom buried within each of us. It’s our intuition!

What Is Intuition?

The definition of intuition is: “The ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning”.

In other words, it’s the bridging of the gap between our conscious and unconscious minds. For example, have you ever had an unexplainable feeling in your gut that instinctively told you to do, or not to do, something that you couldn’t explain? That is your intuition.

Now imagine what your life would be like if you were able to access that inner guidance system whenever you needed it. That sounds amazing, right?

Listening to and trusting that little voice is a marvelous thing on its own, but working to develop that little voice can make it even more powerful. We all have the ability to grow and strengthen our intuition, to boost our intuitive signal. The more we use it, the more it can expand and evolve.

Imagine your intuition as a muscle that needs exercise and nourishment to flourish. Let’s take a look at the 12 best ways to get in tune with and develop your amazing sacred gift!

1. Meditation To Boost Your Intuition

If you want to meditate but don’t know where to start, check out our article HOW TO START MEDITATING for some great tips.

Let’s take a look at mediation through the lens of helping us tune into and grow our intuition.

For most people, intuition has a very soft voice, and it can be easy to miss. Especially when our minds are already so busy and full with the stresses of daily life. Meditation is a great way to clear the mind, quiet our constant inner dialogue, and make room for our intuition to come through. Try this basic meditation to help you listen and tune into your inner spirit!

Intuition Meditation

  • Set a timer for 10 minutes.
  • Find a relaxing and comfortable place to sit.
  • Close your eyes and stay quiet.
  • Listen to and feel your breath (really pay attention to it) without trying to change it.
  • Just observe the breath. Notice any sensations that arise. Just BE present.
  • When your mind wanders, just bring your focus back to your breath.

After your timer chimes, slowly open your eyes and take a moment to write down any important thoughts, messages, feelings, or insights you may have received during your meditation. You might not find anything jumps out at you right away, but that doesn’t mean it’s not doing anything.

Try to incorporate this short little meditation into your daily routine. The more you practice quieting the mind, the easier it will become. And through this, you are creating space for your intuition to rise and be heard. A sure fire way to boost your intuition!

2. Dreams

While we are awake, our cognitive brain is in control. It uses logic and reasoning to override our subconscious mind. And for the most part, this is a good thing! The conscious mind makes sure we stay safe and alert.

However, once we fall asleep, our conscious mind rests, allowing our subconscious mind to take over. Our subconscious mind is the intuitive and creative part of our brain. While we sleep, our subconscious mind is expressing feelings that we are not consciously aware of having. Unfortunately, understanding what the subconscious is trying to communicate to us through our dreams can be hard!

But with practice (like most things), you can get better at remembering and interpreting your dreams. Over time, you will be able to start seeing patterns and occasions where your inner consciousness is giving you guidance.

Dream Journal

The fastest way to get more in touch with your subconscious, to remember and interpret your dreams, is to write them down. Make it a daily ritual. Keep a notebook or JOURNAL and pen right next to your bed.

Before going to bed, visualize yourself remembering your dreams. Picture yourself waking up and recording these dreams in your journal. Try to keep this thought in your head as you fall asleep. This will help imprint the practice in your mind and make it easier the next morning.

Immediately after waking up, record everything you remember about your dreams. Dreams begin to fade from memory immediately upon waking, so make sure to grab your dream journal before you do anything else. It doesn’t matter how much you remember – it could just be one detail, or a feeling. Always write it down.

Every week, take some quiet time to read through your notes and see whether you can notice any interesting themes or emotions. Write down your thoughts, and any experiences or current situations you think might be related to these.

3. Re-Wild

Spending time in nature, away from technology, is one of the best ways to quiet the mind. Nature is a great way for us to get in tune with our ancestral wisdom.

This is where we come from – our ancestors relied on their intuition for everything in nature. For finding food, avoiding predators, taking cover before a storm, finding the right path… Intuition was one of the most important aspects of life.

Anytime we immerse ourselves in nature’s beauty, we have an opportunity to dip our toe in another world, a world where intuition rules.

4. Get Creative

Do something creative! Paint, draw, build, sketch, anything that elevates and unlocks your creative mind.

When we are young, our inner voice is loud and not hesitant to shine through. As we get older that inner voice is pushed down with responsibilities and the stresses of life.

Tapping into this creative part of our brain can help re-ignite those pathways and amplify our intuitions.

5. Turn Five Senses Into Six

Your intuition can flow through any of your five senses. It may come as a strange or loving sensation you feel physically within your body, or as a thought that seems to appear out of nowhere. Maybe it’s triggered by a certain scent, or even taste.

Start noticing and paying attention to all of your senses. When was the last time that you really concentrated on your breathing, your sense of smell, your taste? We have all heard the phrase, “stop and smell the roses”, but it really can help in developing your intuition.

The more you practice getting in tune with these senses, the more your “6th sense” can flourish as well.

6. Record Your Hunches

A surefire way to develop your intuition is to test out your hunches.

As you are going about your daily life, keep a journal and write down every time you have a hunch or unexplained feeling. When that little voice chimes in, be sure to write it down, so you can record and see how these hunches play out.

It can be as simple as seeing the weather reporting rain for tomorrow, but you have a feeling it will be sunny. Maybe a friend’s partner gives you bad vibes, write down your feelings and see if it plays out.

Follow your hunches and see what you can learn about your intuition.

7. Switch Up Your Daily Routine

The conscious brain loves routine and order, but the more regimented your life is, the further your inner voice is pushed down. When the mind is busy it can be especially hard to hear that little voice. Have you ever made the commute to work and then not remembered getting there? We go onto autopilot, just going through the motions, the mind worrying about this or that, making lists, always busy.

Switching things up can throw your cognitive brain for a loop, and let your intuition shine through. Turn a few paintings or photos around in your house. Take a totally different route to work. Get your groceries at a shop you don’t usually go to.

Just by changing up your routine in small ways, you can shake yourself out of the mental “static”. This helps you start paying attention to what is around you and what you’re feeling.

8. Work With Crystals To Boost Your Intuition

You know I had to bring in crystals, right! Crystals are an excellent way to strengthen your intuition and start to work with it more. Certain crystals are known for enhancing your intuition. The best crystals to work with for this are crystals that are associated with the third eye chakra. Here are some examples:

CRYSTALS FOR INTUITION

  • Amethyst
  • Apatite
  • Aura Quartz
  • Labradorite
  • Lapis Lazuli
  • Moonstone
  • Purple Angelite
  • Purpurite
  • Shattuckite
  • Sodalite
  • Spirit Quartz
  • Sugilite

Work with them to boost your intuition in different ways. You can carry them with you in a little pouch, or arrange them around your home, or put them next to you while you meditate. They can also help with dream recall – put them under your pillow or next to your bed as you sleep.

9. Breathwork Exercises

Hands down, breathwork is one of the best ways to quiet the mind and get in tune with your inner voice. Try this 4-7-8 method to give your intuition the opportunity to shine through and bring your consciousness to the present.

4-7-8 Breathwork Exercise

  • Start by emptying your lungs of air.
  • Breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds.
  • Hold that breath for 7 seconds.
  • Exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 seconds.
  • Repeat this process 4 times.

This 4-7-8 technique will not only help boost your intuition, it is a great way to mitigate stress and lower anxiety. Basically, the whole world would be a much better place if everyone would practice this simple technique once a day!

10. Feel Your Feelings

The cognitive brain thinks, the intuition feels. Our minds are always reasoning, questioning and thinking their way through the day. There is a constant stream of dialogue going on in our brains. After so many years of this, we don’t even realize it’s happening. Just like in “Switching Up Your Routine” above, the idea is to shake ourselves out of autopilot.

This one just takes reminding.

Remind yourself to stop and tune in to what you are feeling throughout the day.

A great way to get into the habit is to put a string or bracelet around your wrist for a week. Every time your eye catches the bracelet, tune in. Just sit, quiet your mind, and check in with your emotions.

Through this practice, you will become more aware of feelings as they come up.

Boost your intuition by feeling

Feelings that are grounded in your body, are also grounded in truth.

Feelings that are grounded in your body, are also grounded in truth. These feelings will never lie. Learn to listen to them more.

Have you ever met someone and immediately just known something is off about them? You could just feel it, even though you had no way of really knowing. Or you meet someone and the opposite happens – you just know this person is going to be important to you somehow.

Sometimes our feelings can create physical signals in the body. Heart beating faster, that knot in the pit of your stomach, feeling hot, feeling cold, goosebumps or a tingling sensation.

The more you validate your feelings and act on them, rather than trying to “logic them away” or dismiss them, the more you’ll find they come through. Learn to trust these nudges as your intuition talking to you. This will naturally help boost your intuition.

11. Practice ‘Sensing’ To Strengthen Intuition

This is a great way to test and grow your intuition.

Let’s say you’re going to get a takeaway coffee. As you walk into the shop, try imagining the person behind the counter. What will they be like? While you’re standing in the queue, look at them and see what comes up for you. Do you feel they are sociable? Friendly? Having a good or bad day? What else can you sense?

Another fun exercise is to get a handful of tumbled stones and put them in a small bag (a sock works too in a pinch!).

Using tumbled stones is best, since they have a uniform smooth texture.

Try to choose stones that have a similar size and shape, so you’re not giving yourself too many clues.

Put your hand into the bag and with your eyes closed, take one out of the bag.

Before you open your eyes, try to sense which crystal it is.

12. Practice Divination

The most powerful exercise you can do to boost your intuition is to learn and practice a divination technique. This gives your intuition a way to “communicate” with you clearly. Put another way, your inner knowing can flow through with the use of this tool. There are lots of different divination methods and tools available.

Choose one that you feel naturally drawn to, or try a few different ones to see what works best with you. Practice a little each day and record your progress.

Examples Of Divination Methods

  • Tarot
  • Oracle Cards
  • Pendulum
  • Runes
  • Scrying
