GEOLOGICAL

Apatite belongs to a group of minerals of the same name. The name is from the Greek verb ‘to deceive’. Since this group has a long history of confusing mineralogists and getting misidentified so often! Abraham Gottlob Werner is the German geologist who named it in 1786.

Madagascar Apatite occurs in a beautiful range of blue, green, and yellow hues. Additionally, Madagascan Apatite is often UV reactive. The deposits from which polished material is made are not very large and never available in large quantities. The natural material has a green to green-blue colour, while the polished material is heat treated to produce the rich, intensive gemmy colour.
