Tarot card decks are usually based on the Rider-Waite system, consisting of a deck of traditionally 78 cards with the Major Arcana and the four suits making up the Minor Arcana.

While learning to read the tarot for the first time can take a bit of effort, once you have learned, you can read any theme tarot deck that follows the same system, even if the imagery is slightly different.

Oracle card decks don’t follow a set system and usually don’t have things like suits. They vary in number of cards. They have different themes and meanings depending on the individual deck.

The deck will either have a book or leaflet explaining the meaning of each card, or the meaning will be printed on the card itself. Each oracle deck is unique in cards and meanings.
