GEOLOGICAL

Quartz is a hexagonal crystalline mineral composed of Silica. It is one of the most abundant minerals on earth. Quartz vibrates at a very specific frequency. Smoky Quartz is a variety of Quartz. It contains Aluminium exposed to natural radiation in the earth (from radioactive rock around it). As the crystal is irradiated, the colour centres around the Aluminium in the Quartz are activated. The material develops a smoky colour, ranging from a light smoky hue to almost opaque black (known as ‘Morion’ Smoky), and sometimes with orange to brown hues.
