Rainbow Obsidian Tumbled Stone.

These Rainbow Obsidian tumbled stones are translucent to opaque black, with some green and pink speckled hues in areas and play of light. From Mexico. Good to A Grade. Choose your size.

Please note that not every tumbled stone will display iridescence since it is a natural product and attaining polished iridescence is complex. But all the tumbled stones are from the same Rainbow Obsidian material.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Obsidian is a type of natural volcanic glass. It forms when molten rock material from a volcanic eruption cools so rapidly that atoms are unable to arrange themselves into a crystalline structure. Pure obsidian is usually dark, with colour variances due to different minerals present, usually an iron oxide such as magnetite.

Rainbow Obsidian is Obsidian with inclusions of oriented nanorods of Hedenbergite, resulting in bands of beautiful multi-coloured iridescence that play across the surface of the stone in the light. This particular variety of Obsidian only occurs in Mexico.
