These Moonstone tumbled stones vary from soft white and cream to tan hues. Some pieces have soft opalescence when turned in the light. Good to A Grade. Choose your size.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Hecatolite, tradename Moonstone, is an Orthoclase member of the Feldspar group. It gets its name for the ‘lunar’ glow sometimes present, a soft and watery opalescence that seems to float just under the surface. This sheen made the ancient Romans believe that the moon’s beams were frozen in the stone. The scientific cause is somewhat less romantic – light diffraction within the microstructure of Feldspar layers.
