Geological:

Kunzite is the name for the pink variety of Spodumene, the colour coming from trace amounts of Manganese. It is primarily found in Afghanistan, as well as the USA, Madagascar & Brazil. Named in 1902 in honour of its discoverer, famed gemologist George Frederick Kunz.

Kunzite is regarded as an evening stone, as prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the gem to fade, thus people prefer to wear Kunzite jewellery at night.
