These Chrysoprase tumbled stones are a lovely mix. Consisting of variable amounts of apple green to pastel green Chrysoprase within an opaque brown to cloudy, translucent clear matrix. All unique, colours & inclusions vary substantially. Very nice! Good to Very Good Grade.

Chrysoprase is a sought after green variety of Chalcedony, getting its unique colouring from the presence of Nickel. Varying amounts of Nickel in the Chalcedony cause a beautiful array of colours from pale yellow to dark green in interesting patterns. Due to its beautiful colouring and patterns, Chrysoprase is considered to be the most valuable gemstone in the Chalcedony family.

‘Chrysoprase’ comes from the Greek ‘Chrys’ (meaning gold or yellow) and ‘Prase’ (meaning green). It was favoured among the ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians in jewellery and ornamentation, referred to as “the stone of Venus”.
