Very striking variable material. Combinations of Chrysocolla, Malachite, Azurite, Cuprite and Quartz in a mostly native Copper and Tenorite matrix. Patterns, strands and flecks of blues and greens against metallic browns and greys. Beautiful! Each piece is unique. From Namibia. Good to Very Good Grade.
GEOLOGICAL
Chrysocolla has a cyan (blue-green) colour. It is a hydrous copper silicate that’s usually found with Malachite and Azurite. A secondary mineral, Chrysocolla forms in the oxidation zones of copper ore bodies. It’s the copper that gives this mineral its beautiful turquoise colour. Chrysocolla was first mentioned in 315 BC by Theophrastus, Greek Peripatetic philosopher and pupil of Aristotle.
