Amazonite Tumbled Stone.

These Amazonite tumbled stones vary in colour intensity. The smallest sizes are a very dark, very high-quality green Amazonite from Russia. The larger sizes are a lighter hue of turquoise and come from Madagascar. Good to A Grade.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Amazonite varies in colour from very light jade-green to turquoise, usually with white mottling, and sometimes with some brown staining. This tectosilicate mineral usually derives its colour from the inclusion of lead. Sometimes a pearlescent shimmer is visible on the surface of the stone. Amazonite is part of the Feldspar group, usually microcline, else orthoclase.

Also known as Amazon Jade or Amazon Stone, it’s name comes from the Amazon river. Cultures in Northern Africa, Mesopotamia, and the Indus Valley were cutting Amazonites as early as 5,200 BCE.
