Orchid Quartz Crystal Tower.

Only a handful of these came out of Madagascar! Orchid Quartz is the trade name for this new material. It consists of red Tourmaline with Silky Feldspar in a brecciated Quartz matrix. Very beautiful complex material. Polished standing point / tower.

GEOLOGICAL

Tourmaline is the name for a group of crystalline boron silicate minerals first identified in the 1800s. Its name comes from mid-18th century French. Tourmaline has some awesome properties! It becomes electrically charged when heated (this is called pyroelectric). It is also piezoelectric (meaning it creates electricity under pressure).

Tourmaline occurs in more colours and colour combinations than any other gemstone in the world. The different colours have many different causes. Manganese can create reds, pinks and yellows, while some pink and yellow Tourmalines might be due to colour centres caused by radiation.

Feldspar is the name given to a group of silicate crystals that include Moonstone, Labradorite, Sunstone, Albite, Amazonite, and Orthoclase, among others.

 

Brecciated is the word used to describe naturally forming material that consists of mixed broken fragments cemented together. This generally occurs due to tectonic or seismic activity. The difference between breccias and conglomerates are that breccias consist of angular pieces, while conglomerates tend to have more rounded pieces.
