Beautifully polished mottled Chrysocolla standing point. The material consists of pale turquoise Chrysocolla with secondary copper-related minerals in matrix. From Messina, Southern Africa. Good to A Grade. Size approx 3-5cm. You will receive one point.

GEOLOGICAL

Chrysocolla has a cyan (blue-green) colour. It is a hydrous copper silicate that’s usually found with Malachite and Azurite. A secondary mineral, Chrysocolla forms in the oxidation zones of copper ore bodies. It’s the copper that gives this mineral its beautiful turquoise colour. Chrysocolla was first mentioned in 315 BC by Theophrastus, Greek Peripatetic philosopher and pupil of Aristotle.
