These gorgeous Smoky Quartz polished gallets have exceptional clarity and transparency. Colour intensity is variable across the batch, ranging from very light to dark. Some minor iron inclusions/stains in some pieces. Absolutely stunning. From the top deposits of Madagascar. Very Good to A Grade. Size medium to large. GEOLOGICAL

Smoky Quartz is a variety of Quartz. It contains Aluminium exposed to natural radiation in the earth (from radioactive rock around it). As the crystal is irradiated, the colour centres around the Aluminium in the Quartz are activated. The material develops a smoky colour, ranging from a light smoky hue to almost opaque black (known as ‘Morion’ Smoky), and sometimes with orange to brown hues.
