Blue Calcite Polished Gallet M-L.

Lovely light grey-blue colour with some white and very occasionally brown and/or grey staining. Hand-selected and polished to perfection. Good to A Grade. Size medium to large. First, choose your weight category, then choose your individual gallet.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral. It is colourless or white when pure but is found in a rainbow of different colours depending on trace elements present. Calcite is identified by its low Mohs hardness (3) and its high reactivity with even weak acids, such as vinegar.

What causes the blue colour in Calcite isn’t certain, but some mineralogists believe it’s due to trace amounts of Strontium.
