Beautiful blue Peruvian Angelite nodule with polished face to bring out the colour. Angelite, a fairly rare stone, is the trade name for blue Anhydrite. It is also known as Angeline. From Mexico. Good to A Grade. Size approx 5.5cm. Weight approx 42g.

GEOLOGICAL:

From the Greek anhydros, meaning “waterless”, Anhydrite was named by A.G. Werner, a well-known German geologist, in 1804. This translucent, blue-gray Anhydrite variety was found in Peru in the late 1900’s and is known by the trade name “Angelite” or “Angeline”. Fairly rare, Anhydrite doesn’t occur in abundance, as it alters into the much more commonly found Gypsum when exposed to water over time.
