Natural Blue Kyanite Crystal.

Gorgeous long, natural blue Kyanite crystal. Generally crystal sizes range from small to medium. Less than 5% of the known Kyanite deposits yield larger specimens like these. Areas of rich blue, to pale almost clear, with variable gemmy clarity and some intrusive black platy material. From Karoi, Zimbabwe. Good to A Grade. Weight approx 40-60g. You will receive one rough piece of blue Kyanite.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Kyanite is an aluminosilicate mineral, found in aluminium-rich metamorphic pegmatites and sedimentary rock. It is most commonly blue but does occur in a few other colours more rarely, including clear, black, grey, yellow and green. It was named in 1789 by Abraham Werner for the Greek “cyanos” or “kyanos”, meaning blue.
