New find! Brand new Jasper with beautiful complex patterns and striking colours. Hues of brown, red, yellow and orange. Nice big natural, rough display piece. From Northern Cape, South Africa. Very Good to A Grade. Size approx 9.5cm. Weight approx 366g.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Chalcedony is a broad term describing microcrystalline forms of Silica.

Jasper is any type of Chalcedony which is opaque (ie solid, not translucent, light doesn’t pass through the material). Jasper has many different known varieties. Nguni Jasper is a tradename for a pocket of highly patterned Jasper found in the Northern Cape of South Africa.
