Red Calcite Natural Rough Piece.

This red Calcite is a deep maroon red to rust colour with minor black or brown inclusions. Mostly opaque but very good colour saturation. Rough natural cobbed pieces. Medium to Good Grade.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate. It is colourless or white when pure. Calcite is best recognised by its relatively low Mohs hardness (3) and its high reactivity with even weak acids, such as vinegar. Natural rough Calcite feels smooth and ‘waxy’ to the touch.
