Fantastic large cubic Orange Calcite specimen from a brand new deposit with limited availability. The material showcases an intense, rich orange with minimal intrusions/inclusions and veining (Biotite Mica, black Tourmaline). From Namibia. Very Good to A Grade. Size approx 7cm. Weight approx 438g.

GEOLOGICAL

Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate. It is colourless or white when pure. Calcite is best recognised by its relatively low Mohs hardness (3) and its high reactivity with even weak acids, such as vinegar. Natural rough Calcite feels smooth and ‘waxy’ to the touch.
