Green Calcite Natural Rough Piece.

These natural rough pieces of green Calcite are a light sea green colour, often with some white or brown staining. Lovely translucency and good cleavage. This colour is also referred to as ‘Emerald Green Calcite’ or ‘Pistachio Calcite’. Very pretty! Good to A Grade.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate. It is colourless or white when pure. Calcite is best recognised by its relatively low Mohs hardness (3) and its high reactivity with even weak acids, such as vinegar. Natural rough Calcite feels smooth and ‘waxy’ to the touch.
