Amazonite Natural Rough Piece

The colour of these Amazonite natural rough pieces ranges from light jade-green to turquoise, with white areas and some brown staining. Nice pearlescent shimmer on some pieces. Good to Very Good Grade. Choose your weight.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Amazonite varies in colour from very light jade-green to turquoise, usually with white mottling, and sometimes with some brown staining. This tectosilicate mineral that usually derives its colour from the inclusion of lead. Sometimes a pearlescent shimmer is visible on the surface of the stone. Amazonite is part of the Feldspar group, usually a microcline, else orthoclase.

Also known as Amazon Jade or Amazon Stone, it was named after the Amazon river. Cultures in Northern Africa, Mesopotamia, and the Indus Valley had begun cutting Amazonites as early as 5,200BCE.
