Cotton Candy Tourmaline XL 20cm RARE!

Where do I even start with this beauty?! Cotton Candy refers to bicolour Tourmaline in pastel pink and blue, just like the confectionary we call candyfloss in South Africa, or cotton candy in the US. This is a super rare colour combo with fantastic colour.

Not translucent (else the price would have several zero’s added), but there are some gemmy areas, and still a very rare and collectable variety of Tourmaline. Plus the XL size really makes this an extra-exciting find! In association with platy Mica/Lepidolite.

From Northern South Africa/Namibia area. Size approx 20.5cm. Weight approx 954g.

 

 

GEOLOGICAL:

Tourmaline is the name for a group of crystalline boron silicate minerals first identified in the 1800s. Its name comes from mid-18th century French, based on Sinhalese “t?ramalli”. It occurs in more colours and colour combinations than any other gemstone in the world! The different colours have many different causes.
