A stunning selection of mirror-shiny black Tourmaline. This is world-class, highly collectable Erongo material. The nice small sizes make them affordable for all! Awesome single pieces else complex clusters, with Mercedes terminations. Some with Orthoclase/Feldspar in association. From Erongo, Namibia. A Grade. Size approx 2.5cm. Weight approx 21g.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Tourmaline is the name for a group of crystalline boron silicate minerals first identified in the 1800s. Its name comes from mid-18th century French. Tourmaline has some awesome properties! It becomes electrically charged when heated (this is called pyroelectric). It is also piezoelectric (meaning it creates electricity under pressure).

Tourmaline occurs in more colours and colour combinations than any other gemstone in the world. The different colours have many different causes.
