GEOLOGICAL

A tektite is black, green, brown, or grey natural glass formed from molten debris flung far up into Earth’s atmosphere during meteorite impacts with Earth. The name derives from the Greek “t?ktos”, meaning “melted,” or “molten.”

Indochinites are a variety of Tektite. They are distinctly black to dark brown. The name comes from its source location – the former French colonies of Indochina (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia) plus Thailand and southern China. The impact crater of this strewn field hasn’t been found but is presumed to be in Southern Laos.
