Rare little Hollandite Star Quartz crystal points! Small points with cascading features and mostly milky translucency. Each point contains one or more well-defined visible star formations. These points come from our private stockpile of a pocket discovered in 2019 with extremely limited supply. From Ambositra, Madagascar. Size approx 3cm – 5cm. Weight approx 10-20g. GEOLOGICAL

Quartz is a hexagonal crystalline mineral composed of Silica. It is one of the most abundant minerals on earth. Quartz vibrates at a very specific frequency. This, combined with its general hardness and durability, heat resistance and electrical properties, has made it one of the most useful crystals in the modern world. Quartz crystals can be found in numerous colours and in beautiful shapes, sizes and hues.

 

Hollandite is an oxide mineral and a barium-manganese member of the Coronadite group. It was first found in the Kajlidongri mine in India, and named after the director of the Geological Survey of India, Sir Thomas Henry Holland.

Star Hollandite formations are formed when deposits of Hollandite become trapped within Quartz during its formation. As the Hollandite becomes subjected to high thermal temperatures within the Earth, the Hollandite bursts into star formations within the Quartz.

Hollandite from Madagascar was considered extinct around 15 years ago until recently a new pocket was opened in the Ambositra region. Since its re-discovery, an exceedingly small amount of material has come onto the market.
