Fantastic sparkling specimen consisting of lustrous acicular Mimetite crystals covering every surface of the matrix. Individual crystals range up to 5mm in size. Size approx 6cm. Weight approx 173g.

GEOLOGICAL

Mimetite occurs in lead deposits as a secondary mineral, usually through the oxidation of Galena and Arsenopyrite. It is a lead arsenate chloride mineral belonging to the Apatite group of phosphates. Its name relates to its mimicking the appearance of Pyromorphite. Generally, Mimetite occurs in hues of yellow to orange or brown, though it can also occur as colourless, white or even green.
