Natural Fluorite Octahedron. Stunning bipyramidal octahedral formations! Translucent clear, with some minor blue tones or green. Completely natural – not cut or polished. From Riemvasmark, South Africa.  Good to A Grade. LAST OF STOCK! We have had stock of these awesome octahedrals for a few years now, but unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and we’ve reached the end of the box.

GEOLOGICAL:

Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, and belongs to the halide minerals. It can occur in natural octahedron and complex isometric forms, though it crystallizes in a cubic habit. Also known as Fluor Spar, it can occur in many different colours.

Optically clear, transparent Fluorite is used in microscopes and telescopes, due to low dispersion properties. Fluorite is often fluorescent under UV light. In fact, it was one of the first fluorescent minerals to be studied in 1852, and the word ‘fluorescent’ was named after Fluorite.
