GEOLOGICAL:

Dumorierite is a fibrous Aluminium Boro-Silicate mineral. It varies in colour from browns, blacks and white to the most sought after violet-blues. Deep blue Dumortierite has been called “blue denim stone.” It often occurs in Quartz, giving the Quartz a blue appearance.

It is named after a French palaeontologist, Eugène Dumortier, who discovered it in 1881, in the Alps of France. Dumortierite is not a common mineral. Only a handful of localities have produced quality specimens, including France, Italy, Brazil and Madagascar.
