GEOLOGICAL

Danburite is a calcium boron silicate mineral that forms in small prismatic crystals?, similar to Topaz. Its color can range from clear transparent to light yellow. It has a Mohs hardness of 7 to 7.5, making it a durable jewellery stone, but pieces big enough to be faceted are rare!

Danburite was first discovered in Danbury, Connecticut (USA), for which it was named, but most of the danburite gemstones today originate from Mexico.
