Awesome botryoidal specimen with clusters of light turquoise balls on a host matrix. From the Congo. Good to A Grade. Size approx 10cm. Weight approx 141g.

GEOLOGICAL

Chrysocolla has a cyan (blue-green) colour. It is a hydrous copper silicate that’s usually found with Malachite and Azurite. A secondary mineral, Chrysocolla forms in the oxidation zones of copper ore bodies. It’s the copper that gives this mineral its beautiful turquoise colour. Chrysocolla was first mentioned in 315 BC by Theophrastus, Greek Peripatetic philosopher and pupil of Aristotle.
