Botryoidal Blue Brucite Specimen 2cm RARE

Silky baby blue Brucite specimen in a rare radial botryoidal habit. Very nice little collector’s specimen! Size approx 2cm. Weight approx 5g.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Brucite is the mineral form of magnesium hydroxide. It is often found with Serpentine, Dolomite, Aragonite or Calcite in ultramafic rock or marble. Brucite forms through the alteration of magnesium-rich minerals, such as olivine and periclase. You can find it in a variety of colours including white, pale green, blue, grey, and yellow to brownish red. It can be fibrous to massive.

Brucite gets its name in honour of Archibald Bruce who first described it. He was a mineralogist and editor of the American Mineralogical Journal.
