Geological

Beryl is a Silicate containing Beryllium and Aluminium. It occurs in different colours depending on trace elements in the environment while forming. Many Beryl family members are among the top gemstones of the world, including Emeralds, Morganite and Aquamarine.

Aquamarine is the blue to blue-green member of the Beryl family. It gets its name after the colour of the sea, a combination of two Latin words, ‘aqua’ (water) and ‘marina’ (sea). Aquamarine’s colour is caused by trace inclusions of ferrous or ferric iron in clear Beryl. The colour and clarity of a specimen affect its grade.
